Blogging Energy

I've noticed a pattern for my blogging habits. Over the weekend, I'm all gung ho. I write posts for the week. I started on Twitter last week, and began thinking of how to get more readers and eventually make some money on my blog.

Then Monday comes. Work has been crazy, I come home tired after a long day of teaching, grading, meetings, etc. I spend a little time with the boyfriend, relax a little, and then I'm done for the night. I barely manage to look at the comments you are so kind to leave (please don't stop leaving them!), much less think about writing any more posts. I really like having this blog, but man I am glad I've written my posts for the week.

Do you ever find it hard to blog? What keeps you going?

  1. I noticed that I was having a similar problem last month, so I drew up a blogging schedule. It's just a blank calendar (printed on bright paper so I feel happy when I look at it) with the blog post title (or idea if I can't come up with a title) for the whole month. I find it's so much easier to sit down and blog when I already know what I'm blogging about. I usually leave one day a week blank so that I can either fill it in with something interesting, or have a day off.

I like to plan things (like my menu) so it may not work for you, but it's definitely working for me!

  2. I've definately been in a slump when it comes to writing in my blog. I do like the idea that you can do a whole week's worth in advance, not sure how to do that, but I'm going to look into it.

Way off topic but I Love your background! It reminds me of the Oregon Coast. Hubby and I were married in Lincoln City on the beach, even though we are from Canada.

  3. Yes! I'm awful since coming back from my blogging break. Because I prioritize so many other things ahead of the blog (school, marriage, work, etc), I don't set aside time to get things done, and if something comes up (like Mr. Red's grandfather's death) it sinks even farther down on the list.

But lately I've found that even when I have time to blog, I'm not inspired to put any words on GRB. I just don't have anything major to say, so I don't say anything. I posted about weight loss today and then I'll have my before/after pics and personal reflections up sometime next week. But other than that, I don't feel like I have much to say lately. :-/

  4. I've been bad recently too. I don't feel so inspired and I don't know what to write about. There weren't any changes for awhile and no one wants to read "thing are the same" ya know? Now with a home purchase on the horizon and all of the related expenses, I have things to talk about again! Hooray!
