Christmas Planning

It's getting toward the end of the year, so that means it's time to start planning for Christmas shopping. I know there are people who plan year round, but I don't have a huge family, so I tend to spread my shopping out over the last few months of the year.

I actually bought my first stocking stuffer earlier this month when I saw a Dodgers gift set at Big Lots. I grabbed it for the BF, and have it hidden away already. Most of my family reads this blog, so I can't get too detailed on my plans, but I do want to set a budget and start preparing now.

I am setting my Christmas gift budget at $300. This is lower than I first planned, but I think I can get creative and find gifts that people in my life will enjoy within this budget. If I can do it, I will be able to put an additional $200 toward my house fund in December. I am setting aside all my Swagbucks gift cards for Christmas, which won't be a ton, but will help with a gift or two. I'm also keeping an eye out for freebies and sales that can be used as stocking stuffers. I hope that by starting now and keeping an eye out I can stay within this budget.

What's your Christmas budget? Have you started shopping yet?

  1. ehh I keep changing my mind on what my budget should be. It's around $30 per person in our extended families (we don't have any kids). So this totals about $300. I plan on using Swagbucks and discounts for the kids in the family, so this should push it down to around $200. And then we're budgeting around $1,000 altogether for me and the BF. This seems like a lot, but we include the Christmas tree, decorations and so on in this amount.

  2. all pf blogs keep bringing up christmas shopping and i'm sort of burying my head in the sand. i know i need to get it all done though because we'll be gone for 2 weeks in december on vacation! it's a 3 paycheck month in december and so i'm planning on that for christmas shopping!

  3. Our budget this year is $1200, we're a family of 6, and buy for others as well. I'm almost done though... A few more stocking stutters & single gifts and we should be good to go! :)

  4. I haven't set a budget yet. Mr. Red and I usually buy for each other, plus our parents. We keep it simple. But this year we'll have the nephew to buy for. So we definitely need to talk budget because we can both go a little crazy when we get in a toy store. ;)
